Spectators at Chaney game limited amid coronavirus fears

YOUNGSTOWN — Based on the recommendation issued Tuesday by Gov. Mike DeWine limiting spectators at indoor sporting events because of coronavirus COVID-19 fears, all tickets purchased for Thursday’s Chaney boys basketball game vs. Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary are null and void.

Any tickets purchased at Chaney for the game at the Canton Memorial Civic Center may be brought back to Chaney for a full refund. Those tickets are voided and will not be accepted at the gate for Thursday’s regional semifinal game.

Each scholar-athlete participant in the game will designate four family members or guardians each of whom will be able to buy a $7 pass to attend the game. Those passes must be purchased at the Canton Memorial Civic Center.

Chaney school personnel are not able to add people to the list of those who may buy game tickets so other fans, community members and supporters are asked not to call the school to make those requests.

The decision to limit the fans able to attend the game was not a local one. This procedure is being followed at all regional tournament sites across the state.

School and district officials, however, ask the community to continue to support the Chaney Cowboys.
