Monday highlights

SOFTBALL

SEBRING — McDonald senior pitcher Bri Callow only allowed two balls in play during her five-inning, perfect-game performance Monday in the Blue Devils’ 14-0 win over the host Trojans. Callow, who will pitch next season at John Carroll, struck out 13 of the 15 batters she faced.

Callow got offensive support from Lucia Wolford (double, home run, 3 RBI), Chaelsea Sudol (4-for-4, 2 doubles, 2 RBI) and Bri McCombs (3 hits, 2 RBI). Callow also supplied two hits.

YOUNGSTOWN — Maris Barbato slammed four hits, two of them home runs and one a double, while driving in three runs in Ursuline’s 15-3 softball victory over Howland.

Julia Nutter, Emily Holland and Madelyn Micklandric also drove in three runs each for the Irish, with Nutter and Micklandric also hitting home runs.

JEFFERSON — Meridth Trevis and Katie McDonald had impressive performances for Poland in a 12-1 win over Jefferson.

Trevis finished the afternoon with four hits, two runs and two RBIs. McDonald hit a home run, had two RBIs and got the win, throwing 10 strikeouts.

HUBBARD — Grace Narkum threw 12 strikeouts, had three hits and three RBIs for the Eagles in a big win over Niles. Gillian Ryser, Jordyn Juillerat and Haley Croyle all had two hits. Croyle and Emily Filicky each had a home run in the five-inning contest.

BASEBALL

SEBRING — Both Andrew Cupan and Zach Shobel recorded three hits for McDonald in a 14-2 victory over Sebring in five innings.

Shobel also record three RBIs and rounded the bases twice. Cupan scored twice.

EAST PALESTINE — Logan Hoschar pitched four hitless innings with Seth Spoonder coming into finish out Columbiana’s 13-0 combined no-hitter over East Palestine.

In addition to closing out the game, Spooner had a very successful day at the plate with two hits, including a three-run home run. Spooner finished with five RBIs.

SALEM — Carter Blakeman hit two home runs in four at-bats for Salem in a 6-3 win over Crestview.

Blakeman went 3-of-4 on the night and had 3 RBIs.
