Western Reserve girls roll to win

¯ WESTERN RESERVE 86, THURGOOD MARSHALL 13: NORTH CANTON — At the Holiday Hoopla at Walsh University, the Blue Devils caused some hoopla of their own in a big win over Dayton Thurgood Marshall.

Danielle Vuletich led Western Reserve with 28 points and Alyssa Serensky totaled 23.

The Blue Devil defense held Thurgood Marshall to one point in the second quarter and only five across the final two quarters. Vuletich brought down 15 rebounds.

¯ NORDONIA 48, SOUTH RANGE 22: HOWLAND — South Range falls in the Toni Ross Spirit Foundation Tournament in a loss to Nordonia.

Izzy Lamparty led the Raiders with eight points and Lexi Giles added six.

Nordonia faces Howland in the tournament finals tonight at 7 p.m.

¯ MAPLEWOOD 35, MINERAL RIDGE 32: MECCA — The Rockets remain undefeated in a nail-biting victory over Mineral Ridge. Marissa Ventura and Bailey Starcher led the team with 17 and 15 points respectively.

The Maplewood defense held the Rams to one point in the third quarter to keep Mineral Ridge playing from behind throughout the fourth quarter. Both teams put up 13 points in the fourth, but it was too late for the Rams to make a comeback push.

Alexa Harkins tallied 15 points for the Rams.

¯ HOWLAND 73, SHAW 12: HOWLAND — The Tigers opened up the Toni Ross Spirit Foundation Tournament with a big win over East Cleveland Shaw.

Gillian Powell led the team with 18 points and Courtney Clark finished with 17. Clark also finished with eight rebounds.

The Tigers take on Nordonia tonight at 7 p.m.
