BOYS BASKETBALL
Western Reserve 34, Waterloo 19 — Josh Klasic recorded a game-high 15 points to lead the Blue Devils in the low-scoring win over the Vikings. A pair of threes from Gage Hawley game him six points and the leading-scorer nod for Waterloo.
Mineral Ridge 63, Lowellville 48 — The Rams left Lowellville Monday night with a win after toppling the Rockets. Chase Moore led Mineral Ridge with 21 points and Jordan Moore was second on the team in scoring with 15 points to help propel the Rams. In the loss, Vinnie Sullivan recorded 11 points and Josh Pazel was right behind with 10 points to lead the Rockets.
Jackson-Milton 57, Sebring 23 — Jackson-Milton’s Ryen Romigh tallied a game-high 24 points to lead the Blue Jays in the thrashing of the Trojans. Sebring statistics were not submitted.
Campbell 77, Springfield 50 — Josue Rodriguez led all scorers with 22 points to propel the Red Devils to the win over the Tigers. Teyon Harris and DJ Lombert rounded out the top scorers for Cambell with 16 and 10 points, respectively. In the loss, Carson Cunningham sank seven shots and a pair of free throws to lead Springfield with 16 points, while Isaac LaMorticella clipped three three-point shots on his way to a 15-point night.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Maplewood 65, Fairport 17 — The Rockets walloped the Skippers thanks to a host of double-digit scorers. Earning the top-scorer designation was Morgan Himes with 15 points, however Aliah Brumit, Claire Urcheck and Katie Wear were right behind with 13 points each. Lauran Kreig added 11 to round out the leading scorers. In the loss, Taylor Prioreschi and Natalie Phillips each tallied seven points to lead Fairport.
Canfield 47, Stow 46 — A Carly Fleming buzzer-beater gave the Cardinals their sixth win of the season over the Bulldogs. Fleming finished with 11 points, but Canfield was led by Jenna Triveri with 15 points behind a trio of three-pointers. For Stow, Syair Young led with 12 points.
Howland 53, Ursuline 45 — With the Monday night win, the Tigers handed the Fighting Irish their fifth loss of the season. For Howland, Sophia Powell led all scorers with 22 points, while Maya Kubancsek rounded out the Tigers’ leading scorers with 12 points. In the loss, Kam Hopkins led with 20 points and Carly Casey tallied 12 points for Ursuline.
Grand Valley 66, Badger 29 — The Mustangs toppled the Braves thanks to 18 points from Cloe Turk and 13 from Bre Rowland. The latter Rowland drilled three shots from beyond the arc. For Badger, Gabriella Miller sank three-out-of-five free throws and added four baskets to lead Badger with 11 points.
Kennedy 68, Minerva 42 — The Eagles continued their stellar start to the season with a win over the Lions to remain unbeaten after six games. Gianna Pompelia led all scorers with 22 points, collecting three threes along the way. Didi Ryan added 15 points and Aniyah Johnson added 12 points to round out Kenendy’s leading scorers. For Minerva, Lilah Sanor tallied 18 points in the loss.
LaBrae 54, Windham 9 — In a lopsided affair, all but one Viking scored in LaBrae’s dominant win over Windham. Monday night’s leading scorer title was Angel Scruggs with a game-high 11 points. Skylar Bailey and Jaiden Moore each scored three to lead Windham.
Champion 54, Brookfield 19 — The Warriors came into Monday night’s contest looking for their first win of the season, but the Golden Flashes would not be denied the win, thanks for 16 points from Kennedy Caldwell. Caldwell tallied four three-pointers en route to earning a game-high total, while Addie Warzala hauled in 15 points. For Brookfield, Mya Jumper led with seven points.
Cardinal Mooney 46, Struthers 36 — Sammi Rotunno led the offensive charge in the Cardinals’ win over the Wildcats with 12 points. Julia Dierio added 11 points for Mooney and Christina Koullias tallied 10 to round out the Cardinals’ leading scorers. Katelyn Kimble led for Struthers in the loss with 10 points.
Lakeview 59, Liberty 18 — The Bulldogs cruised to a big win over the Leopards. Mackenzie Stowe buried three from beyond the arc to lead Lakeview with 15 points, while Annabelle Humphries and Sophie Irwin lent 12 and 10 points respectively. In the loss, Armani Franklin led Liberty with 10 points.
Hubbard 46, Garfield 38 — No statistics from either team were submitted.
