Newly elected representatives first attend “Freshman Orientation for New Members of Congress.” On the average, each representative stands in for 760,000 Americans in their district. Sometime ago I was in a meeting of Catholic men. A place where God is to be praised and worshipped. During this time two of the men joked that their hope is for Donald Trump to be killed by the end of the year. I don’t know about anyone else but I find this abhorrent. This is not the Catholic faith I want any part of. To any of you who pray for this to happen, there is a special place in hell for you. Rich Lowry’s Artemis column was a misfire

DEAR EDITOR: Rich Lowry’s editorial regarding the triumph of the Artemis II mission reflects a shortsighted opinion of the U.S. space program. Artemis is surely an accomplishment — one of many at NASA — and, as Lowry suggests, it has its issues (no reusability, older technologies, cost, etc). Nevertheless, the U.S. Space program is one of the most successful and accomplished on earth. Valley should take a cue from a shrine

DEAR EDITOR: I am writing to share that the Franciscan shrine, on Belle Vista Avenue on the West Side of Youngstown, offers a beautiful celebration of the end of communism and the liberation of Hungary and the Hungarian people. The walking path depicts their oppression by comparing the 14 stations of the cross suffered by Jesus with their own suffering. Then, as with Christ’s resurrection, the Hungarian people were freed by the fall of communism. Fast forward to the present. Dr. Amy Acton’s record is worthy of praise

DEAR EDITOR: Remember the COVID-19 pandemic? Remember how frightened the ENTIRE world was in March of 2020? Our Republican Gov. Mike DeWine had already chosen Dr. Amy Acton to head the health department. He trusted her and together they got us through those uncertain days. However, once things settled, many of us no longer felt the fear or the need to salute the medical workers, teachers, truck drivers or cared to wear masks. Life went on, thankfully, for many of us.
