Olympics showed how America should be

DEAR EDITOR: As I watched the opening of the Olympics, I couldn’t help but think about how a free country should look. I saw happy, hopeful faces of athletes getting ready to compete against athletes from different countries, friend or foe. I changed the channel and what did I see? I saw a city being invaded by a Gestapo-type Trump ICE, wearing masks, dark glasses to conceal their faces, handguns, and automatic rifles. Conflicting messages about Poland Library

DEAR EDITOR: Something is amiss! In the weekend edition of The Vindicator, Feb. 14-15, a Poland Board of Education member favored the former Poland Union school be torn down to make way for condominiums, saying that wealthy Polandites would gladly buy into the idea because of the condos being so near to the Poland Library located at 311 S. Main St. However, The Vindicator has done several stories on the Poland Library quite possibly vacating its present location. Wake up! It’s time to save our country

DEAR EDITOR: In Minneapolis there is so much going on — stealing millions of dollars. Have people out protesting so people can forget all the crimes the leaders did. If Alex Pretti had been arrested for spitting on an ICE agent and kicking the car taillight out, he would be alive today. Blue cities let all these people back out on the streets. The poor ICE agents have to go out to find them. If they would let them pick their people up from jail, none of this would have happened. These Democrats have caused these deaths. DEAR EDITOR: An open letter to the Mahoning County Commissioners: I just now watched the video of your Feb. 12, 2026 meeting. Janet Cobb and Chris Harris spoke eloquently about a problem that is a very relevant subject because the Mahoning County jail has received millions of dollars from the federal government to jail ICE detainees. DEAR EDITOR: A recent article in the Business Journal outlines the Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County (PLYMC) Board of Trustees’ plan to relocate and build a new library in downtown Struthers. This is a wonderful thing. The reasons listed in this article for relocating the library include proximity to downtown Struthers and vibrant businesses, outdoor reading spaces, proximity to Yellow Creek and increased visibility and accessibility.
