Ignore GOP; get on with being American
DEAR EDITOR:
GOP candidates, wannabes and officeholders will be touring here to corner cash and / or votes in thanks for their visit. They seem to have determined this region’s desire for prosperity is desperate enough to achieve it.
The son of the “big lie” originator will be here and is asking for money to share his wisdom. Tickets may be overpriced, but hey, he’s a Trump; he has legal expenses.
Local state Rep. Mike Loychik , R-Bazetta, may negotiate a discount by trying, again, to name an otherwise perfectly good local recreational area after Trump Sr.
The DeSantis / Vance combo will be searching out opportunities for fascism outside of Florida. DeSantis wants to move from his real swamp to the much more profitable D.C. swamp.
His campaign pal, J.D. Vance, publicly stated his belief that women trapped in abusive relationships should just take the beatings. That’s not surprising, given his admiration
for his uncle, who attacked and nearly killed an unconscious man as a response to a verbal insult.
Read about the electric saw attack on page 15 of J.D.’s book. (I suggest you borrow it to avoid giving him power tool money.) These are the top of the apple barrel, following the losses of 45.
Others in the election-denying, fear-mongering, phony-moral-outrage pantheon of GOP stalwarts also will show up to deliver their two cents worth in political speech or wildly creative fiction.
Ignore all their rants and track their actions. Compare them to what Democrats have delivered: the lowest unemployment level in decades, gasoline prices continuing to fall, return of respect from our allies and high-and-improving COVID-19 survival rate.
Let’s be thankful for the strength of the rule of law, support the rights of all citizens under the Constitution, and get on with being Americans and not conspiracy theorists unable to govern.
