Grange studies health care

DEAR EDITOR:

Ohio Grange members are engaged in agriculture and the communities we live in, and we struggle like most Ohioans with the increasing costs of health care.

Pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs) are the middlemen who control the prescription medication system. These companies were created to help patients save money and instead they continue to increase their profits while forcing Ohio families to face higher out-of-pocket costs.

We must ensure Ohioans can afford their prescription medications so they can avoid long periods of sickness or injury and relieve health issues as soon as possible.

The drug supply chain is difficult to understand, but we have joined the PBM Accountability Project to shine the light on where improvements can be made. By changing the way our state works with PBMs, our leaders can ensure that savings for prescription drugs are driven back to Ohio patients and taxpayers. I encourage everyone to learn more at the PBM Accountability Project, www.pbmaccount abilityoh.org.
