New Valley clinic helps provide veterans care they deserve

Our veterans deserve nothing but the best. That’s why we are so pleased to see the beautiful new state-of-the-art facility, the Carl A. Nunziato Veterans Affairs Outpatient Clinic, now serving them at 1815 Belmont Ave., Youngstown.

The facility opened in January and will serve veterans in this location for at least two decades, according to the $24.74 million, 20-year agreement.

The facility, one of 18 VA locations in northeast Ohio, ensures that our Valley’s veterans seeking medical care can get it very close to home.

The new facility offers 10,000 square feet more than the previous location.

The larger space enhances primary, mental health and specialty care to more than 10,500 veterans served each year at the clinic, according to the VA. The facility employs 94.

Herm Breuer, director of Trumbull County Veterans Services, who this week toured the new facility, was especially pleased with what he described as “attention to detail.”

The new location allows the VA to implement its “Patient Aligned Care Team” model that has patients receiving specialized care from a team made up of primary-care providers, nurse-care manager, clinic associate and administrative clerk.

We are thrilled to have this new clinic nearby. We are hopeful that veterans are able to utilize it to the fullest extent, and that they are able to be treated in a timely manner by caregivers of the highest skill level.
