Robert Eshenbaugh 1952-2026

THE VILLAGES, Fla. — Robert “Bob” Eshenbaugh, 73, passed away at his home Wednesday, March 25, 2026.

He was born April 9, 1952, in Allegheny County, Pa., to the late Dellis and Elizabeth Hunsbarger Eshenbaugh. His family moved to Youngstown in the late 1950s.

Bob graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in Youngstown in 1970. Following graduation, he worked at Youngstown Sheet and Tube, first in the tube mill and later in the property protection department until the company’s shutdown in 1979. He then attended the police academy and worked for a local security company before joining the Warren Township Police Department. He later transferred to the Youngstown Police Department, where he served until his retirement in 2013. During his career, he also worked for Youngstown City Schools, Youngstown State University and the Mahoning County Sheriff’s Office Marine Patrol on Berlin Lake.

Following retirement, Bob moved to The Villages, where he enjoyed the warm weather, golfing, classic rock and a good martini.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Vogt Eshenbaugh; his sons, Robert Jr. (Christine), Stephen (Jennifer) and Joseph; and his four grandchildren, Mason, Nolan, Jack and Julia. He is also survived by his sister, Crystal Ceja; his brothers, Dennis, Daniel, Michael and Kenneth; and their families.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Thomas.

He was a son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to all who knew him and he will be sadly missed by all.

A celebration of life will take place 3 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 1, 2026, at Cassese’s MVR restaurant in Youngstown.
