Frances C. Pavelko 1936-2026

SALT LAKE CITY — Frances Carmela Pavelko, 89, passed away on Sunday, July 5, 2026, in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Fran was born Dec. 2, 1936, in Youngstown, a daughter of Pasquale “Pat” Battagline and the former Marie Ramunno.
She was a proud graduate of Chaney High School, Class of 1956, and worked as an administrative assistant at several technology and financial companies.
She enjoyed many hobbies and interests. She was an excellent chef that loved to cook for her family and entertain her friends, with Italian food and cake decorating among her specialties. She was very creative and loved to paint, do macrame, and create artful flower displays and charcuterie boards.
She was a supportive Navy wife and Scout mother who loved to travel, was an excellent bowler and could take on any bunny ski slope.
She was involved with the nonprofits, Philanthropic Educational Organization International, which helped women achieve their educational goals, and Help of Ojai, which is dedicated to social services for senior citizens, low-income families and unhoused individuals.
Fran is survived by her children, Diane Pavelko Gentry, Brian Pavelko and Michael Pavelko; and grandchildren, Amber and Sierra Gentry, and Dylan and Julia Pavelko.
In addition to her parents, Fran was preceded in death by her husband, John Pavelko; her sister, Joanne Jones; and her brother, Pasquale “Pat” Battagline.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Anthony of Padua Church at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 25, 2026. She will be laid to rest in Calvary Cemetery.
