Betty Jane Hilbert 1938-2026
YOUNGSTOWN — Betty Jane Hilbert departed this life peacefully on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at the age of 88.
Born on April 15, 1938, in Champion, Pa., Betty brought joy and kindness to all who knew her throughout her years.
Betty was a dedicated accountant and partner in Catering by Betty and Barb.
Betty’s legacy is one of resilience, kindness and devotion; and her spirit will continue to inspire those she touched. She will be remembered for her unwavering support and love for her family, who were her pride and joy. She loved to make handcrafted jewelry and spent her weekends at the flea market. She loved playing bingo and going to the casino. Her luck for winning was legendary.
She leaves behind her cherished daughter, Cynthia L. (Mike) Wilson of North Lima; son, Keith Ragan of Campbell; stepdaughters, Debra Hilbert of Youngstown, Dawn Jacobs of Burghill and Denise (Dan) Webster of Youngstown; stepson, David (Donna) Hilbert of Youngstown; stepdaughter-in-law, Sally Hilbert of Austintown; her siblings, Mary Ellen Neiderhiser of Champion, Pa., Barney (Janet) Pritts of Indianhead, Pa., and James (Norean) Pritts of Montgomery, Alabama; and two sisters-in-law, Rella Pritts of Champion, Pa., and Patty Pritts of Normalville, Pa.; as well as 12 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Relda Barkley Pritts; her husband, Donald Hilbert, whom she married Aug. 28, 1970, and who passed away Aug. 3, 2011; a daughter, Christina Mills and her husband, Bobbie Mills; two brothers, Arnold and Glenn Pritts; a stepson, Donnie Hilbert; and a stepgrandson, Dustin Hilbert.
A memorial service will take place in August at the Brooks Funeral Home, Melcroft, Pa.
Professional arrangements were handled by Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Poland Chapel.
