William C. Mokrovich 1940-2026

Together again

CAMPBELL — William C. Mokrovich, or “Pickles,” as he was commonly known, 85, passed away Saturday, May 30, 2026.

He was born June 28, 1940, in Youngstown, to William and Mary Dubaj Mokrovich. He graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1958.

Shortly after graduating, he proudly served his country in the Army Signal Corps, stationed mostly in Germany. After returning from the Army, Pickles started a career at General Motors Lordstown in 1966. He began as an hourly employee but worked his way up to supervision and learned almost every aspect of manufacturing. Even after retirement, Pickles’ expertise was still needed and he was asked to be a contract employee, traveling to manufacturing plants in other states such as Michigan and Texas.

In his spare time, Pickles loved watching and playing sports. As a young man, he played slow-pitch softball, and in his later years played bocce; he excelled at both. Pickles loved the Cleveland Browns and watched games almost every Sunday, either at home or many times in person at the stadium.

Pickles loved music and food. Pickles learned how to play the accordion from a very young age. Many friends and family members had the pleasure of watching him play. He loved his polka music and attended many events with polka band members who were also his friends.

Pickles married his wife, Donna, on Feb. 23, 1981; they shared a love of travel and entertaining. In fact, Pickles’ greatest love was entertaining his family and friends. Pickles and his wife, Donna, would often host gatherings at their home. Their Fourth of July parties were legendary, featuring live music and lamb roasted on the spit, which was his specialty. Later, Pickles and Donna would host a feast on the night of Christmas, where all were welcome to share in their Christmas spirit.

Pickles loved his church, St. Angela Merici, where he regularly attended when he lived in Youngstown.

Pickles will be deeply missed by his daughter, Francene (Joe) Spahits; his sisters, Joanne Mokrovich and Marilyn (Russell) Hudoba; nephew and godson, Michael Hudoba; nephew, Doug (Jamie) Hudoba; and nieces, Drew and Emmaline; as well as numerous great-nieces, great-nephews and loving friends.

Besides his parents, Pickles was preceded in death by his wife, Donna.

His family would like to thank Ohio Living Hospice and the staff of the Grove at Oakleaf Village for taking such good care of “Mr. Pickles.”

Pickles’ family has entrusted his final care to Wasko Funeral Home in Campbell, where a private funeral service took place Thursday, June 4, 2026.

A public celebration of life will take place at a later date.

Pickles was entombed next to his wife, Donna, in Calvary Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to St. Angela Merici Parish in his honor.
