Charles D. Jubak 1940-2026
YOUNGSTOWN — Charles D. Jubak, 85, peacefully entered into eternal life Sunday, May 10, 2026, at Briarfield Place in Boardman. He endured the final, difficult months of his life with perseverance, gratitude and a positive attitude.
Charlie, as he was known by friends and family, was born July 11, 1940, in Youngstown, to the late John G. and Anne Zvarich Jubak. Charlie was only 13 years old when his mother died from cancer.
He attended St. Brendan grade school, graduated from Chaney High School in 1958, and attended college at Youngstown State University. He majored in public relations and had only one semester left to graduate.
In 1966, Charlie began working as a structural ironworker for 40 years and served as union president of Local 207 for eight years. He was very proud of the buildings, churches, bridges and infrastructure that he built in the Youngstown area.
He met his sweetheart, Nancy Bradley Jubak, whom he married Jan. 12, 1974. They were married for 46 years before she preceded him in death in 2020.
Charlie lived, laughed and loved his life. He was a hard-working man; a tough guy, not afraid to get dirty; was full of energy; and had a witty sense of humor. He had a kind and generous heart, always willing to help and give to others.
As a little boy, Charlie explored Mill Creek Park, Idora Park and the Canfield Fair.
Charlie enjoyed working outdoors; gardening; cooking; baking apple pies; reading; playing cards; shooting pool; going to casinos; watching old Westerns and football (the San Francisco 49ers were his favorite home team); target shooting; and golfing. One fun fact is that Charlie hit a hole-in-one while golfing in 2007.
He loved dogs and leaves behind his little Yorkie, Zoey. Most of all, he cherished, protected and loved his family.
Charlie had a strong faith in God, growing up Catholic. He said his prayers daily and was a parishioner at St. Joseph Catholic Church.
He was a Mason for 42 years at Argus Lodge 545, a member of the Vienna Fish & Game Club, FOE 3298 and the Saxon Club in Austintown. He was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association.
Charlie’s well-known sayings to family and friends were “Age is just a number” and “I am not going anywhere.” God called him home to be one of his protective angels in heaven.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, especially his children, Michael Jubak and Brenda Murdock; grandchildren, Matthew (Caitlin) Murdock and Paul (Hannah) Murdock; nephew, Bob (Mary) Jubak; great-niece, Marie; and three great-nephews, Bobby, Zach and Josh Jubak.
Charlie’s family welcomes relatives and friends for calling hours 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, May 17, at Fox Funeral Home, 4700 Market St., Boardman.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Monday, May 18, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 4545 New Road, Austintown.
Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, 300 N. Raccoon Road, Austintown.
The family would like to thank the caring and supportive staff at Briarfield Place and Sanctuary Hospice of Ohio, who were amazing caregivers to Charlie during his final days. We are grateful to his loving friends and faithful home health caregivers, Sylvia and Laura.
In lieu of flowers, a donation to benefit adults with developmental disabilities may be made in Charlie’s name to Genesis Home, c/o Blase Brush, 7206 Market St., Ste. F, Boardman, OH 44512, where his son Michael participates in the day and residential programs.
