McDONALD — Melva “Louise” May, 99, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Dec. 21, 2025.

She was born July 31, 1926, in Hoquiam, Washington, and spent most of her life in McDonald, where she became a cherished and well-known member of the community.

In her younger years, Louise shared her love of music as a singer during her 20s. She later dedicated 25 years of faithful service as a clerk with Trumbull County Children Services, from which she retired with pride. Her commitment to service extended to her church, as she served as treasurer for Woodland Park Methodist Church. Among her many talents, Louise was especially known for creating beautiful wedding cakes for family, friends and neighbors, each one made with care, generosity and love.

Louise had a true passion for travel and took great pride in having visited 49 of the 50 United States, a testament to her adventurous spirit and curiosity about the world.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Laura and Owen B. Wattenbarger; her beloved husband of 47 years, Vernon T. May; her sister, Elizabeth Meyer; her brother, Dale Wattenbarger; and her nephew, Rob Wattenbarger, all of Albany, Oregon.
