Ruby G. Wine 1936-2025

She was born July 7, 1936, in Napier, W.Va., the daughter of the late Claude H. and Lucy Allen Ratliff, and moved to the Youngstown area in 1954.

Ruby was a proud homemaker and a true matriarch for her family. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, and always made them her top priority. She loved to bake and can vegetables from their garden, along with doing crafts and sewing. Ruby enjoyed listening to country, bluegrass and gospel music, and enjoyed attending music festivals with family and friends.

Ruby was a member of New Covenant Church of the Nazarene.

Her husband of over 65 years, Verdine Lane Wine, whom she married Oct. 2, 1954, passed away Dec. 15, 2019.

She leaves behind to hold onto her memories, her daughter, Nancy (Dennis) Dunleavy of New Middletown; four beloved grandchildren, Jason (Kerri) Wine, Robert (Hannah) Wine, Matthew (Darla) Dunleavy and Rachel Dunleavy; her six great-grandchildren, whom she adored, Leah, Tara and Kayla Wine, Liam Gunkelman, Jack Wine and Hope Dunleavy; and her beloved dog, Charlie; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Besides her parents and husband, Ruby was preceded in death by her son, David Lee Wine; her infant grandson, Daniel Wine; a brother, Harold Ratliff; and two sisters, Erless M. Conley and Minnie B. Conrad.

There will be a private celebration of life held with Ruby’s family at a later date.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the professional care of the Thompson Filicky Funeral Home, 4221 Market St., Boardman.

In lieu of flowers, material contributions may be made in Ruby’s name to Rescue Mission of the Mahoning Valley, 962 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Youngstown, OH 44510; or to Animal Charities, 8469 Southern Blvd., Building 3, Youngstown, OH 44514.
