CAMPBELL — Russell Edward Farmintino, 82, passed away Friday, April 19, 2024, at St. Elizabeth Boardman Hospital.

Russ was born April 18, 1942, in Salem, a son of Rocco and Ruth Sinsley Farmintino. He was a 1960 graduate of Campbell Memorial High School.

A Campbell resident for most of his life, Russ also called Wilmington, North Carolina home for 24 years and was known by many for his over 50-year career in the auto body and service industry.

He was a member of St. Michael Byzantine Catholic Church in Campbell.

Russel’s greatest joys in life were going to all of his children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events, and spending many memorable days fishing and hunting whenever possible, that on one special day resulted with him landing a state record Northern pike on May 5, 1981.

Russ had a special gift of lighting up the room with joy and laughter, whatever the time, place or occasion. Bringing a smile to anyone and everyone came naturally to Russ.

Russ is survived by his loving wife, the former Dorothy Pachik, whom he married Sept. 7, 1963; his three sons, Russell Edward Farmintino Jr. of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Brian Farmintino (Natalie) and Vince Farmintino (Sharon), all of Wilmington, North Carolina. His five grandchildren, Ryan Farmintino (April), Lexie Farmintino, Vincent Farmintino II, Rocco Farmintino and Dominic Farmintino were a bright light of his life that he dearly loved. Russ is also survived by his sister, Rita (Jay) Hodshon; sister-in-law, Darlene Farmintino; and a host of nieces and nephews whom he also loved dearly.

Russ was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers, Robert and Ronald Farmintino.
