Rita M. Haraburda 1926-2024

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Mrs. Rita M. Cebelak Haraburda, 97, lovingly remembered as “Busia,” went to be with the Lord on Monday, April 22, 2024. Rita is now reunited with her husband, Norbert A. “Nobby” Haraburda and her granddaughter, Hollie Haraburda Barton.

Surviving are her children, Martin (Nancy) Haraburda, Kenneth (Sandra) Haraburda, David Haraburda and Christine (Mark) Buczek; her grandchildren, Lisa (Joe) Amerson, Emily (Cristian) D’Anna, Teresa Miller, Richard Haraburda, Alison Haraburda and Kate Buczek; grandson-in-law, Christopher Barton; great-grandchildren, Zoe, Kasia, Abby, Tyler, Lizzie, Andrew, Tessa and Isabel; and many nieces and nephews.

Rita enjoyed camping, cooking, eating blue moon ice cream, reading, singing, knitting, polka dancing, puzzles, and most importantly, spending time with her family and friends. She will be lovingly remembered for her special prayers for everyone’s needs and her wonderful sense of humor — always a smile.

Rita was a member of Holy Spirit Parish and the Holy Spirit Resurrection Choir. She was formerly a member of the Basilica of St. Adalbert.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 2, 2024, at Holy Spirit Church. The family will receive visitors at the church one hour before the Mass. Interment is in Holy Cross Cemetery.

The family will receive visitors 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 1, 2024, at the Arsulowicz Brothers Remembrance Mortuary, 3525 Remembrance Road, where the Rosary will be prayed Wednesday at 7 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Edison Christian Rest Home, whose care during the last years of her life will forever be remembered.
