Daria ‘Dee Dee’ Taylor 1944-2024

COLUMBIANA — Daria “Dee Dee” Taylor, 79, passed away unexpectedly, Saturday, March 30, 2024, at Salem Regional Medical Center.

Dee Dee was born May 16, 1944, in Salem, a daughter of Harold and Virginia Rohrman Burkle. A 1962 graduate of Columbiana High School, she attended Bowling Green State University and also Chicago Institute of Design, where she met her future husband, Sherwood Taylor II. They married on May 2, 1964, and together they raised two children.

Dee worked as a loan officer at City Loan Financial in Columbiana. After retirement, she worked as a caregiver to adults and children, while helping Sherwood with his floral business.

Dee Dee was a people person who loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed giving them gifts and Easter baskets, cooking for crowds and baking for Christmas. She would talk anyone into a game — bingo, Triominos, cards, Yahtzee — while making everyone laugh. She still attended her high school class reunions and stayed in touch with classmates. Dee also took care of her garden and loved nature, flowers and animals. A reader, she often visited the Columbiana Public Library.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter, Tara (Gary Franko) Taylor of Pittsburgh; two granddaughters, Morgan (Scott) Stich of New Castle, Pa. and Malory (fiance Evan) Taylor of Columbus; four great-grandchildren, Bostyn, Luke, Lincoln and Liam; sister, Lana Moff of Columbiana; niece, Donette (Terry) Falk; three sisters-in-law, Sallye Trobaugh, Cindy Persinger and Machele McCalister; many nieces, nephews and cousins; and her two precious cats, Punkin and Baby.

Dee Dee was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Sherwood, who passed away Nov. 5, 2014; her son, Todd Taylor, who passed away Dec. 26, 2022; her granddaughter, Shelby McKay Taylor; nephew, John Moff; and brothers-in-law, Jack Moff and Donald Smith.
