Richard P. ‘Dick’ Pallo 1934-2024

YOUNGSTOWN — Richard “Dick” P. Pallo, 89, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, Feb. 14, 2024, at Omni Manor Nursing Home rehabilitation area.

Dick was born Feb. 27, 1934, in Austintown, the son of the late Paul R. and Anna Dolenic Pallo. He was a lifelong area resident and attended Austintown Fitch High School.

Dick enlisted in the Navy and served his country for four years on active duty during the Korean War. While in the Navy, he received special training to work in communications. He received the Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal and Navy Occupation Service Medal. He was on the U.S. Atlantic Fleet championship bowling team.

After being honorably discharged, Dick worked at Continental Baking Company as a driver and salesman until his retirement in the late 1980s.

Dick married the love of his life, Carolan Lynas, on June 21, 1958, at St. Christine Church.

He was an avid bowler at West Side Lanes and participated in many tournaments over the years. He also enjoyed playing competitive softball. Dick was a Cub Scout leader and coached Little League baseball for many years.

Raising his family was the most important thing in his life.

Dick leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 65 years, Carolan Pallo; and his children, daughter, Mary Kay Pallo (Robert) of Youngstown; sons, Richard J. (Venus) Pallo of Matthews, North Carolina, and Thomas M. Pallo of Willoughby; grandchildren, Michael (Lidia) Pallo, Richard J. Pallo (Drew), Alexis (Robert) Bivens, Thomas M. Pallo Jr., and Chelsea (Sean) Haltham; and great-granddaughter, Cassie Pallo. Dick also leaves his brother, Robert E. Pallo; and sister, Shirley Pallo Rounds.

In addition to his parents, Dick was preceded in death by an infant son, Joseph Patrick Pallo; and his brother, Edward Pallo.

Services with the Rev. Bob England from St. Christine Church, and interment in Lake Park Cemetery, will be private.
