Patrick J. Pascarella 1928-2022
SAN ANTONIO — Patrick Joseph Pascarella, 94, passed away Sunday, Sept. 11, 2022.
Those of you who knew Pat know that he devoted his life to making the world a more beautiful place. There wasn’t much Pat couldn’t improve with a swag of cloth or a few artificial flowers. The family often mused when he left one of our homes that a room somehow looked better than it had earlier, although we could not always put our finger on what he had moved or changed.
Pat started his Youngstown-based interior decorating career as a window trimmer, and while his business evolved to home and commercial decorating and a variety of specialty home furnishings stores, he never retired his staple guns and remained a window trimmer at heart.
Pat briefly taught an art and decorating course at YSU, but his real contribution to youth were the jobs he created for the local neighborhood kids helping around his stores or assisting him in decorating the local businesses and banks for the holidays.
Pat was a member of the Youngstown Rotary and enjoyed serving as an usher at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Parish in Boardman. He and his wife, Effie, moved to San Antonio in 2017.
Pat is survived by his wife of 65 years, Effie Virginia Pascarella; sons, Patrick J. Pascarella and wife, Yolanda of San Antonio, Texas, and William J. Pascarella of Scottsdale, Ariz.; grandchildren, Alexandra S. Pascarella and Andrew L. Martinez of San Antonio; and sister, Rose Marie Perfetto of California.
A private memorial service with military honors will be held in San Antonio, Texas, at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
