Charlotte Hess DiMartino 1937-2021

YOUNGSTOWN — Charlotte DiMartino, 83, passed away peacefully Friday, Feb. 19, 2020, at Briarfield Nursing Home. “We are saddened with the loss of our Mom, Nana D and Mootzie.”

Charlotte was known as “Nana D” only by her two granddaughters, Elyse and Adriana, to whom she dedicated countless hours of tea parties, dress up and their most beloved Christmas cookie baking. However, her “Nana love” was too big not to share, and she quickly became “Nana D” to their now-husbands, sweet cousins and dear friends.

There was not a single school or life event she missed, and she always came equipped with cookies for all. In one hug, you could feel her whole heart. Her kitchen table always held the most laughs, and a sleepover was never complete without all the bells and whistles. That was just her. That will always be her.

In her spare time, Charlotte enjoyed going to garage sales and auctions.

She leaves her two children, Vince (Debbie) DiMartino of Poland and Giovanni DiMartino of Youngstown; two grandchildren, Elyse (Chris) Aracich of Virginia and Adriana (Fred) Romeo of New Middletown; and two great-grandchildren, Elijah and Addelina.

She was preceded in death by the love of her life, John, whom she missed every day since he passed, and her beloved dog, Fluffy.

“We will miss the Scrippelles, Polenta, and the table in her kitchen that held a lifetime of memories. Most of all, we will miss her beautiful soul and the love she put into everything she touched.”

Private services were held for the family.

The family respectfully requests in lieu of flowers or gifts, please remember Charlotte and John by saying a prayer for them.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the professional care of the Rossi Brothers and Lellio Funeral Home, 4442 South Ave., Boardman.

Family and friends are encouraged to offer prayers for the family and support via phone call, text, email or by visiting the Book of Memories at www.rossifu nerals.com.
