Rev. James E. Douglass Jr. 1930-2019

YOUNGSTOWN — The Rev. James Edward Douglass Jr., 89, entered eternal rest Saturday, Nov. 16, 2019.

The Rev. Douglass was born Oct. 3, 1930, in Youngstown, a son of James E. Sr. and Beatrice Miller Douglass.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran.

The Rev. Douglass was employed with General Motors Lordstown, retiring Feb. 1, 1993. He was also the pastor of Indian Creek Chapel at Geneva-on-the-Lake, retiring after 23 years of service.

A member of Alpha & Omega First Baptist Church, the Rev. Douglass served as interim pastor for two years, and most recently served as associate minister. He was a member of the Geneva Interdenominational Ministers Alliance.

Besides enjoying time with his beloved family, he found joy in fishing, hunting and watching CNN.

He leaves to mourn his passing, but to rejoice in his eternal peace, his wife, the former Patricia Matthews, whom he married Jan.21, 1984; three children, Dr. Michelle (Elton) Douglass Smith of Columbus, and Donald Douglass and James A. Douglass, both of California; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a brother, William (Beatrice) Douglass of Harvey, Ill.; a devoted cousin, Victor Thomas; and a host of family and friends.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three children, Debra Perry, and Brian and John Douglass; a brother, Robert Douglass Sr.; and three sisters, Sarah Douglass, Anna Douglass and Alice Mae Mahone.

Services will be noon Friday, Nov. 22, 2019, at Alpha & Omega First Baptist Church, 3120 Winton Ave., Youngstown, Ohio 44505.

Visitation will be 11 a.m to noon at the church.
