James N. Boggs Sr., 1928-2019

STRUTHERS — James N. Boggs Sr., 91, fell asleep in death Sunday evening, Oct. 6, 2019, at home, surrounded by family.

He was born Feb. 15, 1928, in Franklin, Pa., the son of Arnold and Clara Haggerty Boggs.

Jim retired in 1994 from his position as business agent for the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 66 in Youngstown. He enjoyed a retirement of travel and family enjoyment until his death. He included gardening and Bible reading into his daytime activities.

He was a member of the East Palestine congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses, which he loved.

He leaves to cherish the memory of his life his wife of more than 24 years, Marsha Morrow Boggs; son Mark (Penny) Boggs; stepchildren Bruce (Diane) Lydic, Scott (Lori) Lydic and Brenda McKelvey; granchildren Jessica Lira, Mark R. Boggs, Sarah (Brian) DeFord, James N. (Chloe) Boggs III, Jeremy (Danielle) Lydic, Melissa (Jason) Seidle, Amanda Snyder, Eric Lydic, Ashley Lydic, Brendon Lydic, Kirsten Lydic and Shane McKelvey; loving great-grandchildren Ashley, Nathan and Morgan Stumph, Paxton and Jakob DeFord, Landon and Jackson Snyder and Liliana Oracio.

He also leaves siblings Donna Schneider, Carol Ann (Thomas) Meredith and Richard Boggs. Jim also had numerous nieces and nephews that he dearly loved and he referred to them as his No. 1.

James was proceeded in death by a son, James N. Boggs II; a stepson, Darren R. Lydic; and siblings Norma, Betty, Ted, Arnold and George.

Friends and family may gather 4 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 13, 2019, at the East Palestine Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 700 Brookdale Ave., East Palestine. A 5 p.m. memorial service will follow.
