Elaine Cox Bynum 1940-2019

CORNELIUS, N.C. — Elaine Cox Bynum, 79, formerly of Hubbard, passed away Thursday, Oct. 3, 2019, at Levine & Dickson Hospice House in Huntersville, N.C.

Elaine was born Sept. 16, 1940, in Youngstown, a daughter of Edward B. and Helen H. Feineisen Cox.

She was a hairdresser, salon owner and instructor for many years before retiring to Florida in 1998.

Elaine attended St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church in Hubbard, was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Denver, N.C., and was a 4-H advisor, working with horses for 15 years.

She will be sadly missed and remembered by her family, her brothers, Jerry (Barbara) Cox of Madison on the Lake and Michael (Kathy) Cox of Cornelius, N.C.; and several nieces and nephews.

Her husband, Earl Bynum, whom she married in April 1998, passed away in 2008. She also was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Lynne J. Tuchek.

There will be a Mass of Christian burial 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 11, 2019, at St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church in Hubbard, with the Rev. Michael Swierz officiating.

There will be calling hours 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 10, 2019, and prayers 9:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 11, 2019, at Stewart-Kyle Funeral Home, Hubbard.

Elaine will be laid to rest in Calvary Cemetery in Youngstown.
