Barberton woman escapes alleged assault in Boardman

BOARDMAN — A Summit County woman escaped a frightening encounter this weekend with a man she met on the internet. A Boardman police report states that they have a clear idea of who the man is, though he is not named in the report. His distinctive vehicle also was towed for evidence. The woman said she escaped from his car in an apartment complex parking lot after he allegedly held a gun to her head. She said she also suspected him of trying to drug her drink earlier that night. State capital budget funds set to flow into Valley

Mike DeWine signed the state’s 2027-28 capital budget bill into law Monday, meaning $3.7 billion in funding should soon be flowing to a wide swath of community, economic development and education projects across the state. Two women found with gunshot wounds on South Lakeview Avenue

YOUNGSTOWN — Gunshots struck two women at 4:54 a.m. Saturday on South Lakeview Avenue on the West Side. Officers were called there for a shooting and saw a silver Toyota Camry parked on the side of the road with an older woman holding her arm on the sidewalk with at least one gunshot wound to her left arm. As officers checked further, they found a woman inside of the Camry with a gunshot wound to her torso.
