LIBERTY — A resident expressed plans to pursue criminal charges against his daughter when Liberty police conclude their investigation into nine stolen items worth approximately $16,000.

According to a police report, officers were called Saturday morning regarding a theft, and they met with a man and his wife.

The man told officers he and his wife were on vacation, and they had a person at their Logan Arms Drive residence, noting that his daughter — who hasn’t lived there since December — was also seen entering the building, the report states.

The man said his daughter still had permission to come and go freely, and she was seen there on four separate occasions, claiming she was there to do laundry. He also noted that her boyfriend was seen outside the home in or near his vehicle, speaking to an unknown man.

The report states that, in screenshots and text messages with his daughter shown to officers, the man told her that he needed to talk, and she was aware that she had a coat and watch belonging to the man — claiming to need it for a photoshoot.

The man told officers he suspects his daughter took the items, the report states.

Officers were given a paper with detailed descriptions of the nine items that were reported taken from the residence, nine total, with a detailed description and an estimated value totaling over $16,000, the report states.

The man was noted to own a pawn shop and has special knowledge of the jewelry’s pricing and other goods, leading officers to believe the assessment was accurate.

Officers also noted the man noticed his wedding ring was missing and had believed it to be misplaced, but believes his daughter took it because of the recent events.

The man provided officers with various pawn shop locations that he believes his daughter and her boyfriend may have visited to unload the items, expressing plans to pursue criminal charges against his daughter at the conclusion of the investigation.
