Youngstown man faces domestic charge in Liberty

LIBERTY — A woman said she is relieved a concerned citizen contacted authorities, as a Youngstown man faces a charge stemming from an altercation at a car wash.

Oscar Dahn, 45, pleaded not guilty to a first-degree charge of domestic violence in front of Girard Municipal Court Judge Jeffery Adler on Tuesday.

According to a police report, Liberty officers were called to the Belmont Avenue ModWash earlier in the day for a verbal altercation, after a passerby heard a woman screaming for help and called 911.

The report states officers saw a man, later identified as Dahn, and the woman arguing in the parking lot, and the woman was crying and visibly distraught, with a cut below her right eye and blood running down her face.

Dahn was detained and placed in a cruiser as officers continued their investigation.

The report states an officer spoke with the woman, who said she and Dahn were sleeping in their car in Youngstown with the windows down when they were robbed of their belongings.

She said the incident upset both of them and prompted them to drive to ModWash to clean their vehicle, which they use as temporary housing, the report states.

While at ModWash, Dahn became upset with the woman and began hitting her in the head and face area, making contact with her right cheek with a closed fist and causing a moderately sized wound, which started bleeding, the report states.

The woman said she feared for her safety and was relieved that a concerned citizen called police before things escalated.

The woman said Dahn had been her live-in boyfriend for two years and that he often becomes violent with her, according to the report, and she wished to file a domestic violence charge and wished to seek shelter away from him.

Liberty EMS was contacted to treat the woman’s wound, and she was told to contact Youngstown police if they truly were robbed of their items.

Dahn remains in jail on a $5,000 bond, according to Trumbull County jail and court records. He’s set to appear back in court July 8.

Starting at $3.85/week.
