Weathersfield seeks applicants to fill school board seat
Staff report
WEATHERSFIELD — The Board of Education is seeking applicants to complete the remaining term of board member Tim Gleason, who died June 11.
Gleason was first elected to the board of education in 2013, beginning his term in January 2014.
During his 12-year tenure, he served as president and vice president; acted as liaison between the district and Weathersfield Township; and represented the district with the Ohio School Boards Association.
The board must name a replacement within 30 days of the vacancy occurring. The newly appointed member will serve until Jan. 1, 2028. If the appointed member desires to continue serving, he or she must run in the next general election.
Those interested must complete an application by 5 p.m. June 24. Applications can be found at www.weathersfield.k12.oh.us.
According to state law, people serving on Ohio school boards must be district residents, registered voters in the district and at least age 18. Board President Mark Bodo said the board will review applicants, interview candidates June 25 and 26, if necessary, and then vote on the replacement at its June 29 board meeting.
