Man sentenced to 2-3 years of prison on bribery, protection-order violations
YOUNGSTOWN — Judge Anthony Donofrio of Mahoning County Common Pleas Court sentenced Edward D. McLane Sr., 40, of Youngstown to two to three years in prison Wednesday on attempted bribery, two counts of violating a protection order and one count of cocaine possession.
McLane gets credit for 279 days already spent in the Mahoning County jail toward his prison sentence. The sentence was mutually recommended by the prosecution and defense.
McLane’s convictions stem from several separate incidents in the last few years, some involving McLane’s ex-girlfriend, who is also the mother of his child, according to Boardman police reports.
A Boardman police report from October explains the reason McLane was indicted on a third-degree felony charge of bribery.
The woman told Boardman police at the Boardman Township Police Department that McLane sent her a message May 20, 2025, offering her money to drop earlier criminal charges filed against him.
The woman provided police with a SnapChat message in which McLane told her he would pay her to drop the charges: “Just name your price.”
A separate police report from February 2025 included allegations by the woman that McLane violated a protection order she obtained through domestic relations court in June 2023 against him by calling or texting her through social media platforms and on the phone.
A police report from November 2024 contained allegations by the woman that she received calls she believed came from McLane and that he also came to her home in Boardman, but she closed the door.
She said McLane tried to open her sliding glass door. She called 911 and waited for Boardman police to arrive, the report states.
The same report states that on March 11, 2025, McLane was arrested by Liberty police on warrants by Boardman police.
A Boardman officer took custody of McLane and transported him to the Mahoning County jail.
