Man stabbed taking his dogs out on N. Side
YOUNGSTOWN — A man was stabbed in the back Thursday night on Catalina Avenue on the North Side when a man he did not know approached him in his driveway, stabbed him in the back and left.
Officers were called at 9 p.m. to St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital for a stabbing and spoke with a man who said he dropped the victim off at the victim’s house after work and then got a call from the victim about 8 p.m. saying someone had stabbed him and he needed a ride to the hospital.
The man said when he got there, he saw blood on the back of the man’s shirt.
An officer also spoke to the victim. He said he was in his driveway letting his dogs out when he saw a male in his 30s to 40s, about 5 feet 7 inches tall wearing blue baggy jeans and a white T-shirt with “Cleveland” on it walking toward Wirt Street.
The victim said the man then said, “What’s up?” and started to approach the victim in his driveway. The victim thought about running to his house, but he just turned his back and walked to the house. The victim said he felt what he believed was the man hitting him in the back.
The suspect then walked back toward the road and continued on Wirt Street, the victim said. He felt his back and saw a large amount of blood on his hand. An officer said he saw what appeared to be a 1-inch laceration to the right middle of the victim’s back. The victim said he had never seen the man before the attack.
