WHAT: Board of Education meeting Tuesday.
PRESENT: Fred Marcum, Harold Porter, Don Sherwood and Kim Smrek

The board:
● Approved the monthly financial report.
● Approved purchase orders over $15,000 and transfers for the month as submitted.
● Approved a Reduction in Force (RIF) of Jenna Riccardo, fifth-grade math teacher, because of restructuring of positions because of financial reasons.
● Approved an agreement with the Mahoning County Board of Developmental Disabilities for the Leonard Kirtz Summer Program.
● Approved a contract with ACCESS for internet access services.
● Approved an agreement with the United Way of Youngstown & the Mahoning Valley to enhance education opportunities to selected pre-kindergarten students.
● Approved changes to the contractual agreement between the Austintown Local School District and the Supplemental Educational Services, Inc.
● Approved a resolution with the Lowellville School District to share the services of treasurer Andrea Apisa.
● Approved renewing contracts with the following food service providers after a competitive bidding process: Bajco North, LLC dba Papa John’s for pizza, Prairie Farms Dairy for dairy products and Nickles Bakery for bread products.
● Approved the following donations: $45 from Tom Cucaro, AMS Special Education class; $100 from VFW Auxiliary Post 4237 to Fitch Junior ROTC; $500 from American Legion Post 737 to Fitch Junior ROTC; $300 from Meijer to Austintown Middle School; $750 from American Legion 9th District of Ohio to Fitch Concert Choir’s veterans tour; $2,263.95 in the form of two outdoor benches from Austintown PTA to Austintown Middle School.
● Approved the following items to be scrapped: school bus and two table saws from the Fitch woodshop class.
● Approved the following resignations: Haley Castellano, intervention specialist, personal reasons; Bailey Doran, teacher, personal reasons; Joseph McMahon, teacher leader (supplemental contract); Alisha Harris, food service, job change; Kelly Moreno, kitchen manager, job change; and Katelyn Thornton, food service, personal reasons.
● Accepted the retirement of Janet Polish, administrator, after 33 years of service.
● Approved the following appointments: Lisa Modarelli-Johnston, bus driver; and Jesse Daum, custodian at the middle school.
● Approved extra hours for the following summer food staff: Julie Carson, Tammie Conroy, Julie Eldridge, Tammy Emerick, Mary Gamberale, Regina Locicero, Jennifer Merrigan, Susan Parish, Serena Raynish, Chelsie Sheets and Kim Tremayne.
● Approved an increase in the following Title I services because of an increased budget: St. Christine School, Youngstown; St. Rose School, Girard; ACLD School, Youngstown; Valley Christian School, Youngstown; and Islamic Academy of Youngstown.
● Approved a resolution declaring transportation impractical for these students: Allana Linger, Mineral Ridge High School; Joshua Lehman, Heartland Christian School; Teigan Sabel, Heartland Christian; Zayne Sabel, Heartland Christian; Isabella Skaggs, St. Charles; Theona Skaggs, St. Charles; Gabriella Francis, Heartland Christian; Louis Ciccone II, Holy Family, Poland; Jimena Little, Akiva Academy.
