Youngstown police cite West Side club for serving alcohol after hours

YOUNGSTOWN — Club 211, 1666 Mahoning Ave., was cited for a liquor license violation early Friday after police went there at 3:14 a.m. and found 50 to 100 people inside, many of them with cups of alcoholic beverages, according to a Youngstown police report.

Officers were called to the bar after being advised of rowdy behavior, including noise and vehicle racing. When they arrived, they found vehicles parked in private lots on both sides of Mahoning Avenue, as well as on sidewalks, the report states.

Vehicles also were parked on North Evanston Avenue and South Evanston Avenue, the report states. People were still entering the building through an unlocked rear door.

When an officer spoke to the person in charge of the club, he said this was the first time in a while the club had “done this.”

The business’ liquor license only allowed it to serve alcohol until 1 a.m. The person in charge admitted it had engaged in after-hours sales, and because the officer observed people drinking alcohol, the officer issued a citation for serving alcohol after the hours authorized by the business’s permit, the report states.

The officer noted the business had been cited for the same offense by another officer on July 25.

The business’ license is valid through Feb. 1, 2026, the report noted.

The manager was instructed to close the business, which he did, the report states. Other officers made sure the crowd dispersed, the report states.

Starting at $3.23/week.
