WHAT: Board of Education December meeting on Wednesday

PRESENT: Jenifer Johnson, Joseph Sturm, Gerald Dubos, Brian Wharry and Stephanie Yon

The board:

• Acknowledged the winners and runnerups in the grades 3-5 and 6-8 spelling bee that took place Dec. 5: Grade 3-5 champion was Ethan Nye and runnerup was Callie Agnone. Grade 6-8 champion was Nathan Pick and runnerup was David Lahutsin.

• Accepted the following donations:$200 from an anonymous donor to pay off some of the students’ lunch debt; $100 from Jaclyn and James Disibio for the Math 24 Tournament; $500 from A1 Industrial Painting for the Math 24 Tournament; $250 from Sudon Brothers Inc. for the Math 24 Tournament; $500 from the Lowellville Youth Football Organization for the Math 24 Tournament; and $1,000 from Conti Corporation for the Math 24 Tournament.

• Retroactively appointed Robert Baron as a custodial aide at $11.66 per hour.

• Made the following appointments — Lisa Modelski, assistant high school girls track coach, $3,317.76; Joe Ballone, assistant high school boys track coach, $3,317.76; Nick Matos, girls 7th & 8th grade track coach, $3,317.76; Vinny Ballone, boys 7th & 8th grade track coach, $3,317.76; Braden Butler, assistant baseball coach, $2,488.32; and Christian Myers, assistant baseball coach, $2,488.32.

• Approved a three-year contract extension with ACCESS to furnish the school district with digital transmission (transport) and internet access services.

• Approved a service contract addendum between the Mahoning Valley Regional Council of Governments and the Lowellville Local School District.

• Approved the fiscal year 2026 and 2027 student wellness and success and disadvantaged pupil impact aid plan.

• Approved a contract with Sport Floors to sand and repaint both of the gym floors during the summer of 2026.
