Pa. man killed in crash in Boardman

BOARDMAN — A Pennsylvania man was killed in a two-vehicle crash Friday night on Interstate 680 near U.S. Route 224.

The highway was closed for three hours in both directions near milepost 12.

According to a press release from the Ohio State Highway Patrol Canfield Post, Alex Lowry, 39, of McKeesport, Pennsylvania, was driving a Dodge Charger southbound about 6 p.m. when his vehicle struck a Nissan Rogue from behind.

The release states Lowry’s vehicle drove off the left side of the road, struck a guardrail and three concrete bridge supports before overturning.

Lowry was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene. The report states he was not wearing a seatbelt.

The Nissan drove off the road’s left side and overturned after striking a guardrail. The Nissan’s driver, Kylee McIntyre, 26, of Girard, was transported to St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital with minor injuries.

The release states that speed appeared to be a factor in the crash.

Representatives from the Ohio Department of Transportation determined the bridge was safe and did not sustain any damage from the

crash.
