Mercy spends $3.25 million to improve parking around city hospital
YOUNGSTOWN — Mercy Health-Youngstown said Tuesday it plans to expand parking around St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital with its $3.25 million purchase of surrounding properties.
According to the Mahoning County Auditor’s website, Mercy Health Youngstown LLC bought 37 parcels on Sept. 5. They are located on Lexington Avenue, Parmalee Avenue and Covington Street.
“Mercy Health is adding new surface parking on land recently purchased near St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital,” a company spokesperson said Tuesday. “These updates are designed to improve parking and provide patients and visitors with more convenient access.”
The sale includes the Parmalee Medical Complex and the Medical Center Professional Building. They are among the three properties appraised at $943,370, $640,630 and $338,550. The remaining sites’ appraisals range from $290 to $15,630.
Mercy Health did not provide comment when asked about the fate of the medical buildings or details of the financing.
