WHAT: Board of education meeting Monday
PRESENT: Shawn Chrystal, Janine Hamilton, Hans Kirr, David Malone and Kara Morgan
The board:
● Approved participation in the Community Eligibility Provision, which would make all students in the district eligible for free lunch.
● Approved declaring a Califone 3100AV Series Cassette Player/Recorder, eight headphones, and two headphone jacks obsolete, and authorizing Superintendent Brian Knight to determine future use, sale or disposal.
● Approved declaring a Mevo Start camera obsolete and authorized Knight to determine future use, sale or disposal.
● Approved an agreement between the district and AARIS Therapy Group of Niles to provide speech pathology services for a year. The term will run from Aug. 1, 2025, to June 30, 2026, for $68 per hour — with a maximum billable time of 35 hours per week. The annual total is not to exceed $86,000 a year.
● Approved a separate agreement between the district and AARIS Therapy group to provide occupational therapy services for a one-year term, from Aug. 1, 2025, to June 30, 2026, at a rate of $68 per hour. The agreement includes the employment of an occupational therapy assistant at a rate of $55 per hour.
● Approved declaring a list of ELA curriculum books and materials, as well as one projector screen obsolete and authorized Knight to determine future use or disposal.
● Accepted Guidance Counselor Candice Jones’ resignation, effective Aug. 1, 2025.
● Accepted intervention specialist Amber Sierra’s resignation, effective Aug. 1, 2025.
● Granted Victoria Ryser a one-year limited contract as music teacher, effective July 1, 2025 to June 30, 2026. She will be paid $51,528 for the year.
● Granted Taylor Garner a one-year limited contract as K-6 intervention specialist, effective July 1, 2025, through June 30, 2026. She will be paid $38,816 for the year.
