Driver runs over legs of teen on East Side

YOUNGSTOWN — A 15-year-old girl suffered a broken tibia and fibula after a male reportedly drove a car backward. The victim’s legs were run over after she fell out of an open door.

Youngstown police were called to Himrod Avenue on the East Side at 2:16 a.m. Sunday for an injured indivual. When officers arrived, it appeared that a large party was breaking up.

Officers found the victim lying on a couch in the house crying in pain. She was taken to the hospital, where the officer interviewed her, according to a Youngstown police report.

She said she was in the passenger seat of a dark gray Dodge Charger or Challenger. Her door was open, and another teen girl walked up and an altercation took place, she said.

At the point it became physical, the driver, a male, knew the door was open but drove in reverse and “floored it,” the girl said.

She flew out of the car, and the male “ran over both of her legs,” the girl said.

The girl was in critical but stable condition with a broken fibula and broken tibia, according to a report. The girl’s mother said the girl was going to need surgery. The tibia and fibula are two long bones in the lower part of the leg.

CAR HITS HOUSE

ON NORTH SIDE

At 7:48 p.m. Sunday, police were called to Clifton Avenue on the North Side for a driver whose car struck a house and garage, then fled the scene toward Belmont Avenue.

When an officer arrived, a male told the officer that a “younger” female with long, brown hair drove a gray Dodge with a license plate of JNT6302 into the garage and hit the back of a vehicle in the garage.

The crash pushed the parked vehicle through the back of the garage and “completely dislodging the rear wall of the garage,” the report states.

The woman told the person that her brakes went out. There were several small children in the vehicle, the witness said. The officer followed a fluid trail up Delaware Avenue toward Wirt Street, but the vehicle was not located, the report states.

It is not known whether the two gray Dodges involved in the two incidents Sunday are the same one.
