Nude photos lead to fight, arrest of man in Boardman
BOARDMAN — A township man is facing charges after police say he beat his wife in an argument over some racy photos on his phone.
Ryan Robert Silvas, 31, of Applecrest Drive, is due in Mahoning County Boardman Court today after being arrested just after midnight Monday on a charge of domestic violence, a first-degree misdemeanor.
The police report states that when officers arrived at the home, a woman was running out of the house, screaming, with a bloody mouth. When police asked her if Silvas had hit her, she said, “I can’t keep doing this.”
One officer sat with her while another knocked on the door. The woman told police Silvas would not come out because he knew they were there, and that he had five guns in the house.
A supervisory officer arrived to provide support and again knocked and told Silvas to come out. The report states that after he failed to answer again, police opened the door and announced themselves. Silvas shouted from the back of the house that he was there and unarmed, and told police to come see what his wife had done.
The report states police saw several broken containers of condiments on the floor outside the bathroom and splatters on the floor and wall around the bathroom door, and a large hole in the center of the door.
The report states that Silvas told police they had an argument about nude photos of other women found on his phone and so he shut himself in the bathroom. He told police that at some point she struck him in the face, and that she tried to knock the door down with a sledgehammer.
The report states he cut his finger while trying to hold her off and his face was red where she had presumably slapped him.
The woman told police she could not see because Silvas had thrown hot sauce in her eyes, and she was treated by paramedics with an eye flush. She then told police that after she confronted him about the photos, he told her she was fat and ugly and nobody would want her. She then insulted him. She said that was when Silvas went into the bathroom and called her father and threatened him.
She said she made the hole in the door with the sledgehammer, and that Silvas punched her in the face through the hole while she was holding their infant child.
The report states that police took several photos of the injuries to her face and mouth.
The woman told police she blacked out and does not recall how she fought Silvas off before calling them.
The report states police responded to a domestic violence call the night before, but the couple told police it was only verbal and no threats were made then.
Silvas was arrested and booked into the Mahoning County jail.
Social media shows that the couple were married in August 2023 and have several young children.
