United Way donations drive new car promotion

Youngstown resident wins 2024 Chevrolet Trax

AUSTINTOWN — Carol Michaels went the extra mile by giving to United Way and drove away with a 2024 Chevrolet Trax.

Sponsored by the United Way of Trumbull County and the United Way of Youngstown and the Mahoning Valley, the annual Greenwood Extra Mile Giveaway annually rewards one donor who gives at least $260 throughout the year to either United Way organization with a choice of a new car or $15,000.

Five finalists from each United Way were chosen at random. On March 13, the finalists were placed in a random order, where they chose a key to start the Trax. Michaels, a Youngstown resident, was the next to last finalist to choose a key, which started the vehicle. The event took place at Greenwood Chevrolet in Austintown.

On Thursday, Michaels traveled to the Greenwood Chevrolet dealership to make her decision on whether to accept the Trax or $15,000. She picked the new vehicle.

In addition to Michaels, Mahoning County participants were Pat Klingeman, Leah Merritt

Christopher Stickle and Tiffany Varney. Selected from Trumbull County were Dani Burns, Phil Lammers, Mark Munno, Jamie Webber and Jennifer Williams.
