The United States Air Force Band of Flight made a stop at Boardman High School on Thursday. They performed and spent time with the high school’s jazz ensembles, sharing musicianship and learning and playing together. The USAF Band of Flight is one of the premier military bands in the United States, and is stationed at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, which is operated by the 88th Air Base Wing. The United States Air Force Band of Flight is a 17-member organization and features two musical component groups. Flight One is the popular-music group and Spirit of Freedom is a brass ensemble with a percussionist and vocalist. Periodically, these groups combine to form the expanded Band of Flight.
