Three found slain in Summit County from Youngstown

Police in Akron, Copley and the Summit County Coroner’s Office are investigating the shooting deaths of three Youngstown men found Friday — two in Akron and one in Copley.

All three were shot in the head, and their deaths have been ruled homicides.

Killed were Inmer Reyes, 25; Victor Varela-Rodriguez, 31; and Domingo Castillo-Reyes, 35.

The bodies of Reyes and Varela-Rodriguez were found at 8:35 a.m. Friday when police were called to the area of Cordova Avenue near Redbush Road in Akron. The bodies were found on the side of the road bound and gagged, according to a Summit County Coroner’s Office news release.

Castillo-Reyes’ body was found about 8:55 a.m. Friday in the 2100 block of Wright Road in Copley. His body was found in a ditch alongside the road. He also was bound and gagged.

Elias L. Gudino II, 58, of Akron, was arrested within 24 hours and arraigned Monday in Barberton Municipal Court on aggravated murder and attempted aggravated murder charges. The charges were filed by Copley police. Additional charges are pending.

It is not clear why two charges were filed rather than three. A clerk at Akron Municipal Court said the charges in the case are being filed in Barberton Court because Gudino was arrested in Copley.

Gudino is in the Summit County jail, according to jail records.

WKYC 3News of Cleveland reported that Gudino was convicted of possessing, with intent to distribute, approximately 8 kilograms of cocaine in 2010 and was sent to prison.
