Mahoning County motorcycle crash kills Pa. man

SPRINGFIELD — A Pennsylvania motorcyclist died Sunday evening in a one-vehicle crash on Youngstown-Poland Road.

The Canfield Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, which is investigating the 6:35 p.m. Sunday crash, identified the victim as Tyler Long, 29, of Enon Valley, Pa.

Long was traveling south on state Route 170, just south of Unity Road, when his 2017 Harley Davidson Glide motorcycle went left of center and off the left side of the roadway.

The state patrol said the motorcyclist struck a ditch and a culvert. He was ejected.

Long was pronounced dead at the scene, and the Mahoning County coroner was called to the scene.

The state patrol said Long was not wearing a helmet and did not have a motorcycle endorsement on his driver’s license.

Springfield Township police, New Middletown police and Springfield fire and EMS also responded to the call.

Motorcycle accidents and fatalities have been increasing in Mahoning County this year. According to the OSHP, at least 74 motorcycle crashes have been reported so far in the county in 2022.
