Lowellville woman killed by train
LOWELLVILLE — A woman from Lowellville was killed Friday when she was struck by a train.
According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol in Canfield, Sarah L. Medvec, 39, was walking eastbound along the railroad tracks near the 100 block of West Wood Street, Lowellville, at 7:37 p.m. Friday when she was struck by a CSX freight train.
First responders from the Lowellville police, American Medical Response and investigators from the Mahoning County Coroner’s Office were on scene. Medvec was dead upon the arrival of coroner’s investigators. Her next of kin was notified Friday.
The incident is still under investigation.
