Struthers fire chief resigns

STRUTHERS — After more than 30 years with the Struthers Fire Department, Chief Bill Simcox has submitted his letter of resignation, Mayor Catherine Cercone-Miller confirmed this week.

She stated she accepted on behalf of the city.

In the resignation letter, obtained by The Vindicator through a public records request, Simcox states the “voluntary resignation” is effective March 22, 2021, “for personal reasons.”

He thanked Miller as well as city administration for “the opportunity to serve the City of Struthers.”

Miller has appointed Michael Agnone as interim chief.
