Poland makes plans for stadium upkeep
POLAND — Poland Local school board members have approved two new funds to help the district plan for future track repairs.
Treasurer Janet Muntean said establishing the funds is a proactive measure. They are capital improvement funds for track and turf.
She earlier had presented board members options to begin setting aside money for track and turf maintenance.
Beginning in 2021 for 10 years, $40,000 will be transferrred from the permanent improvement fund to the artificial turf fund.
Also for 10 years, $10,600 will be transferred from the track fund and $14,000 from the permanent improvement fund to the capital projects fund — track. Then, for the next nine fiscal years, $25,000 will be transferred.
New turf was installed over the summer at Dave Pavlansky Field located at Poland Seminary High School. Cost for the project was $956,018, with AstroTurf of Pittsburgh doing the work.
In July, board members approved change orders, including $8,234 for a concrete walk in front of the band bleachers and $2,957 for an additional day of digging.
The board also approved a stadium project with R.T. Vernal Paving and Excavating for $21,250 to repair existing damage and thin base asphalt at the track.
Replacement of pavement adjacent to the running track and locker room on the southeast side of the stadium and addition of new downspouts, catch basins and stormwater lines were approved for $37,500 over the summer as well.
