YOUNGSTOWN — The Youngstown Police Department is investigating the city’s latest homicide after a woman was found shot inside an SUV Sunday morning on the side of Interstate 680.

According to a police report, Youngstown police and the Ohio State Highway Patrol were called out at 11 a.m. to a vehicle parked off the side of Interstate 680 northbound near the Cooper Street exit where they found the body of a black female in her 20s who appeared to have been shot.

The Mahoning County coroner and Youngstown police detectives were called to the scene on the city’s South Side.

The report states the victim appears to have been shot by someone who was inside the vehicle with her.

No further information, including the victim’s identity, were available Sunday evening.
