Fitch girls advance to state finals Saturday

AKRON – Austintown Fitch softball team will play for the state title Saturday, after blankiing Lebanon 3-0 in the state semifinal matchup this afternoon.

Fitch’s ace pitcher Sydnie Watts threw a complete-game no hitter to send the Falcons to the Division I state championship game.

Outside of two ties with co-AAC champion Canfield, Austintown Fitch hasn’t suffered a loss all season and their smallest margin of victory was a 1-0 win over Howland in their very first game of the season.

The Austintown Fitch softball team hadn’t advanced to the OHSAA State Final Four since 1993.
