4 local high school football games canceled

Four local football games for this Friday have been canceled.

Matchups between Lowellville and Sebring, Western Reserve and McDonald, Jackson-Milton and Mineral Ridge, and East and Howland were all canceled on Monday.

After having to cancel their matchup this past weekend against Cardinal Mooney, the Golden Bears’ matchup with Howland was already in jeopardy and the cancellation was confirmed Monday afternoon. Howland was still in the process of searching for a new opponent. After pushing West Branch to the edge this past Friday in a 3-point game, the Tigers are 2-4 and still have games scheduled with Chaney (10/8), Canfield (10/15), and Canton South (10/22).

Due to COVID-19 issues within the Sebring and McDonald programs, Lowellville and Western Reserve were able to move up their matchup from Week 10 to this Friday. The Blue Devils will travel to Lowellville. Western Reserve coach Jason Lude confirmed the news on Monday.

Jackson-Milton football coach Nate Brode confirmed the cancellation of the Blue Jays’ game with Mineral Ridge.
