YOUNGSTOWN — The Youngstown Police Department is investigating an apparent homicide on the city’s South Side overnight that also left another man wounded.

Officers were alerted to the incident by the city’s ShotSpotter technology, which detected several shots fired near the 3200 block of South Avenue just before midnight. Officers found a man dead with gunshot wounds in a parking lot.

Another gunshot victim arrived at St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Both men involved are in their 30s.

Police say tips leading to an arrest and prosecution may be eligible for a reward.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 330-746-CLUE or 330-742-8YPD. Tips may be left anonymously.
